Ukrainian plan riles reformers

Article Abstract:

Higher education reformers in Ukraine are riled by a government plan that recently gained the approval of a national educational congress. Critics see the Soviet-style plan as a fantasy that is divorced from national economic hardships. Proponents of the plan see it as a way to promote a love for Ukrainian language, culture and traditions, and as a way to solidify the Ukrainian state.
