Article Abstract:

Audio products, long considered to be a dead category, showed a lot of promise at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Jan 2000. Philips, together with subsidiary Marantz, failed to release their SACD players at the CES while Toshiba and Panasonic featured products supporting the DVD-Audio format.
