Issa secures an American legacy

Article Abstract:

Directed Electronics founder Darrell Issa attributes the success of his firm to his dedication to the consumer electronics industry. The company, which was incorporated in 1982, has grown into an $80-million business whose product lines have expanded to include automobile security systems and mobile audio products. Issa also feels that constant reinvestment is one of the factors contributing to his success.

Consumers, warranty providers connect via the 'Net

Extended-warranty providers are using the Internet to complement their 800 numbers in delivering service and information. The growing number of people gaining access to the Internet and the convenience provided by the new electronic medium make the move a natural progression for extended- warranty companies. Some providers are also using the Web to allow repair contractors to gain access to their contract management systems.

Consumer electronics manufacturers have introduced their latest lines of electric personal care equipment. In the hair care category, Helen of Troy has launched its Vidal Sasson and Revlon travel hair dryers while Philips Electronics NV introduced its SensorCare hair dryer line. In the shaving category, Norelco Consumer Products is offering its Satinelle Sensitive HP6414 and Satinelle Sensitive 2-in-1 HP6416 models which both feature a Sens-Relief massage system, while Panasonic introduced its DIVE razor series.
