DVD audio speaker
Article Abstract:
Matsushita Electronic Components Co Ltd introduces a speaker designed for DVD audios using a urethane elastomer with a microcell independent bubble structure for its edge material. The speaker cuts high harmonic distortion by 30%, which has been a problem with convential speaker edges that use foam urethane material. The new edge material offers a density of 0.5 g/cu cm, a bending rigidity of 150, a heat resistance of 130 degrees Celsius and sufficient durability to withstand temperatures of down -40 degrees Celsius.

Foster Electric focuses speaker R&D on digital technology
Article Abstract:
Foster Electric is researching digital speaker systems, which it believes has strong market potential in home theaters, digital TVs and portable audio-video devices. The company is keen on developing devices that are highly-resistant to vibration and heat so they would perform better in harsh environments. Foster is also studying technologies that would extend product life, increase product efficiency and foster product recyclability.

MS400 speaker system
Article Abstract:
Yamaha Corp has introduced the MS400 speaker system which features a power amplifier with 300W output for low frequencies and 100W output for high frequencies. The product also features a 38cm woofer. Thus, it saves energy while still delivering ample power. The system comes with an input terminal for a microphone which enables it to serve as a simple public address system. The model measures 379 x 683 x 449mm.
