February figures signal favorable shipments of A/V sets
Article Abstract:
Audio-video (A/V) products sales are showing brisk growth in Japan. Statistics published by the Electronic Industries Assn of Japan revealed that shipment for Feb 2000 highlight a robust trend. Digital A/V products, such as DVDs, MiniDisc players and Digital Videocassette camcorders, have particularly demonstrated strong gains. The commercial start of digital broadcast satellite services in Japan in Dec 2000 is expected to have a favorable effect on shipments. Thus, producers are releasing various digital A/V products in summer 2000.

Matsushita exhibition zeroes in on digital connections, networks
Article Abstract:
Matsushita Electric Industrial Company Ltd has showcased 375 products from its 74 business divisions which included factory automation, car electronics, semiconductors and industrial electronics. The exhibition also included 207 newly developed products and 109 reference products. Matsushita also set up a special corner for other medical and medical- science technologies in another part of the exhibition area.
