Matsushita Expanding Global Production of Color TVs

Article Abstract:

Matsushita Electric Industrial Company Ltd of Japan intends to improve its colored television output for FY1998 by 9% to 11 mil units. The company, according to Osamu Takao, GM at Matsushita's AVC Company subsidiary, intends to increased its worldwide production despite a declining demand in some parts of the world, particularly in Southeast Asia. Matsushita also intends to release new colored television models that will be capable of receiving digital broadcasts.

Matsushita sees huge demand in digital camcorders

Article Abstract:

Matsushita Electric Industrial Company Ltd of Japan predicts that the global demand for camcorders in 2000 will increase by 3% to 10.8 million units. The company further speculates that digital camcorders will account for 40% of the total. It also says that the market for digital camcorders in Japan may be reaching saturation point and that demand for camcorders may grow by 7% in North America, Europe and Asia.

Matsushita sees bright potential in LCD TVs

Article Abstract:

Matsushita Electric Industrial Company Ltd plans to increase the sales of large thin-film transistor LCD TVs to 150 billion yen in FY2000. The company, which is anticipating an increasing demand for the product, is hoping to capture an 11% share of the market for the devices. To this end, Matsushita has entered into a manufacturing and technology sharing agreement with Taiwan-based Unipac Optoelectronics Corp.
