Market research firm Brain-Child Inc predicts that the market will grow 36% annually to reach 3.51 trillion by FY2005. Devices related to DWDM are for high-speed, high-capacity communications networks. The company pegs the size of the global market for DWDM equipment at 1 trillion yen for FY2000.

A report released by the Japan Electronics Industry Development Assn forecasts that the global market for electronic and information technology products will grow from 1.7 trillion yen in 2000 to 3.4 trillion yen by 2010, with an average annual growth rate of 7%.
