Nine steps to control workers' compensation costs

Article Abstract:

Nine ways of controling workers' compensation (WC) costs are described. Five of these steps involve pre-incident strategies, which include pre-employment screening, establishing a safety program and forming WC teams. The other four steps involve post-incident strategies, including incident management.

How to keep fatigued employees safe

Article Abstract:

Electric utility workers are susceptible to excessive overtime work because of power outages that require round-the-clock work. Scheduling eight hours of sleep after 16 hours of straight work per shift is one way of preventing physical, emotional and mental fatigue.
