Optical pickups prompt Mitsumi to pick up pace

Article Abstract:

Mitsumi Electric Company Ltd of Japan will accelerate development, produce new lines and reinforce marketing of its optical pickups for makers of CD- ROM drives. The company plans to increase optical pickup sales among outside manufacturers from the current 30% to 50% by the end of 1999. Overall, its goal is to double optical pickup sales for FY 1999, ending Mar 1, 2000. In Mar 1999, the company started producing optical pickups for thin CD-ROM drives.

36D2000, 32D 2000 digital TVs; TT-D2000 digital tuner

Article Abstract:

Toshiba Corp introduces the $4,611 36D2000 36-inch digital TV, the $3,981 32D2000 32-inch digital TV and the TT-D2000 digital tuner. All three products can receive digital programming from Japan's broadcast satellite system and reproduce 1,125-line interlaced and 750-line progressive s-scan transmission for digital Hi-Vision broadcasting, In addition, they have functions that make it easy to search for programs.

ANT-JXI GPS antenna from Mitsumi

Article Abstract:

Mitsumi Electric Company Ltd has launched its ANT-JX1 antenna, which was designed for portable terminals. The debuting antenna, which measures 6mm, is equipped with a Global Positioning System receiver and a high dielectric constant ceramic device. Its reception frequency reaches 1575.42 +1.023MHz while its reception polarization consists of a right- turning circular polarized wave.
