Pioneer forges ahead with release of DVD-audio players

Article Abstract:

Pioneer Corp is going ahead with its plans to launch DVD-Video and DVD- Audio players in Japan. The plan, which was anounced on Oct 4, 1999, was thwarted when a hacker obtained portions of the DVD copyright protection code, decrypted it and published the results on the Internet. However, Pioneer Corp declared that it has to go on with the original launch date due to the possible damage to the industry that might occur if the product is to be distributed six months later.
