Picking Apart the Blank Videotape Market: Camera Companies

Article Abstract:

Major camera companies such as Kodak, Polaroid, Konica and Canon have joined the ranks of blank tape suppliers. Videotape makers see Kodak, with its traditional sales strategies, as the most likely to steal market share. Kodak plans to reach drug, variety and film outlets as well as tape-only concerns. Kodak's videotapes are competitively priced at under $10 for standard and under $12 for high grade T-120 tape. Polaroid is launching an extensive media campaign for its videotapes. Canon and Konica do not expect to have the same force as Kodak or Polaroid but believe that their lines will be profitable. Canon's super high grade line of tapes will be priced between twenty-three and thirty- two dollars.
