Global bases let Samsung E-M meet user needs precisely

Article Abstract:

Samsung Electro-Mechanics Company Ltd is expanding its operations globally to help ensure quick delivery to customers as far away as Hungary. It has broken ground on a parts and components factory in Szigetszentmiklos Industrial Complex near Budapest, Hungary, which will be targeting growing demand in European countries. Samsung operates seven overeas manufacturing facilities in six countries including the Philippines, China, Thailand, Portugal, Indonesia and Mexico.

Powernet sees rich potential in power products

Article Abstract:

Powernet especializes in switching-mode power supplies which is increasingly becoming more important amid the soaring adoption of mobile electronics. Its facility has a production capacity f 8.4 million switching-mode power supplies annually. Its lineup also includes ultra- fast power rechargers for phones using the Global System for Mobile Communications. It also offers uninterruptible power supplies which has resulted from its collaboration with Guardian of Israel.

Korean makers still predict small gain in '99

Article Abstract:

Companies in South Korea's electronics industry expect a modest growth in exports and production for 1999. Korean exports of electronic products are speculated to increase 8.2% to $41.6 billion. The total production for 1999 is predicted to rise 5.4% to 74 trillion won. However, the predictions will depend on the exchange rate of the won to the dollar, according to some analysts.
