Pioneer goes all-out in pursuit of DVD players with high picture, sound quality

Pioneer Electronic Corp has launched its new lineup for DVD players. The DV-05, priced at $900 was introduced by the company as successor to the high-en, $2,000 DV-09. It features dual-wavelength twin-focus pickup, a 10-bit video D/A converter and a 96kHz, 24-bit audio D/A converter. Pioneer also introduced the high-end laser disc-compatible DVL-919 and the standard moderl DV-414. Other products launched by the company are the VSA-D5 A/V amplifier, the S-MT5 Surround speaker and the HT2.7 Vision+DVD theater system.

Sony Corp has introduced new DVD players based from its highly-acclaimed DVD-57000 DVD player. The new DVD players feature the latest technological advancements in the DVD market, including propietary independent dual pick-up systems, a newly developed digital radio frequency processing LSI, and a 10-bit/27 MHz image-processing circuit. The new players allow users to freely configure home theater systems using equipment they already have.
