Makers increasingly assign digital A/V to bases abroad

Article Abstract:

The need to reduce costs has resulted in a number of Japanese DVD players and MiniDisc manufacturers shifting their production to facilities outside Japan. The trend, which is attributed to strong competition within the sector, is expected to intensify further as DVD enters the US market. The move by the DVD makers is made in order to take advantage of the relatively lower labor cost in the Southeast Asian countries and China.
