The houseware industry is planning on making new product introductions at the 2000 International Housewares Show which will be held in Chicago, IL, from Jan 16 to Jan 19, 2000. Avanti is introducing its Teba convection ovens, defroster compact refrigerators and wine coolers. Royal Appliance's Dirt Devil brand is highlighting new translucent products. Other exhibitors are Cuisinart, Danby, Equator, Eureka, Hoover and LG Electronics.

A number of office equipment aimed specifically at the small office/home office market is due to be released in the US market. These include the BJC-3000 Bubble Jet printer from Canon, the Stylus Color 760 printer from Epson and the HP DeskJet 1220C printer from Hewlett Packard. Canon is also set to release the CanoScan FB 630U and the CanoScan 630Ui flatbed color scanners. UMAX has already unveiled the UMAX PowerLook 1100 scanner in Jan 2000.

Panasonic tweaks DVD design for CES

Panasonic has launched the new models of its Palm Theater, a portable DVD player with widescreen LCD. The model DVD A-120 adds component video to the basic new feature set of dialog enhancer, quick start, advanced VSS and chapter preview. The DVD-A320 features digital cinema mode/monitor selector, illuminated universal joystick remote and discrete component video out. The flagship DVD (480) player has a 2D digital video enhancer, gamma correction for true lack level enhancement and 96kHz/24ibt multi-bit processing.
