Personal Computer (PC) makers like DELL and Gateway have started to produce and sell Consumer Electronics (CE) products. GatewayEs plasma screen TV competed with major players like Sony. DELLEs lists of CE products include flat TV, MP3 players and PDA. Diversifying into the CE business can be a value addition. It will sustain the business when PC sales dip. Demographic factors and the quality of the products will determine the success of converging CE with PC.
