Who Needs Desks?

Article Abstract:

When the chairman of Elson wanted to cut down on paperwork, he did so by getting rid of his desk. His office now contains only chairs, a small cube table, an antique rug, cabinets, and fresh flowers - no work space at all. As chairman of a company which markets publications and gifts at airports, hotels, and office buildings, Edward Elsen wanted his office to put visitors at ease and reflect human values.

The Way We Were Mentality Plagues Innovations in Industry

Article Abstract:

The 'because we've always done things this way' mentality discourages innovation. It might be time for manufacturers to rethink the relationship between the video screen and video related products. By the end of this decade over fifty per cent of TV viewers will have cable television. Interest in component video will increase. Retailers should express their opinions about product ideas to suppliers.
