Toshiba maps out new turf for its unique rechargeable batteries

Article Abstract:

Toshiba Battery Company Ltd has developed the Advanced Lithium Battery (ALB) series which are designed specifically for use in Personal Digital Cellular, Global System for Mobile Communications, code division multiple access and other mobile phone formats. The lithium ion batteries provide a weight-energy density of 160Wh/kg which is 10% to 15% more than the weight-energy density of other lithium ion batteries with 540mAh capacities. Results of several safetytests on the series confirm that it is resistant to heavy loads.
