A cooperative study by Pacific Gas & Electric Co and its transformer supplier, ABB Power T&D Co determined distribution transformer owning cost and load factors. The results have reduced inventory and inventory cost for the utility as well as improving the kind of transformers in its inventory.

Arizona Public Service Co. implemented a re-engineering program in 1994 to regain control of its transmission and distribution projects. Through this re-engineering program, the utility was able to improve its flexibility and become more responsive to customer needs.
