With new business group, chinese plant, Pioneer keeps up with car A/V trends

Article Abstract:

Pioneer/Technologies Group Inc in Sep 2000 established the Strategic Business Development Department. The business group is designed to oversee new operations including network related products and digital satellite broadcasts. Created within Pioneer's Mobile Entertainment Co, the new business group represents Pioneer's efforts to invigorate the Mobile Entertainment Co, which manages Pioneer's car audio-video (A/V) equipment operation. In line with these efforts, Pioneer is constructing a large production facility in China to increase its capabilities in the development and production of car A/V equipment.

Mobile lifestyles accelerates demand for car A/V systems

Article Abstract:

The worldwide demand for car audio-video systems is being aided by a global shift towards a more mobile lifestyle. The audio segment of the car entertainment electronics industry is experiencing a recovery after years of observed sluggishness. Sales of navigation systems, which are already popular in Japan and Europe, is only now being introduced in the US. DVD- Video players are also growing in popularity as new and improved systems become available.

Clarion's Car-Use Computer Sets New Course in Car A/V Field

Article Abstract:

Clarion Company Ltd's Clarion AutoPC, one of the most promising car audio/video products to be released by the company, will also be the first computer system for vehicle use. The Japanese company's product, which uses Microsoft Corp's AutoPC platform, combines the technologies of computer, car audio, wireless communication, navigation and voice recognition in its operation. The Clarion AutoPC is set to be released in Jun 1998 at $1,299 each.
