Querying distributed databases on local area networks

Article Abstract:

The development of local area networks (LANs) has increased over the past few years. These LAN environments may benefit from results of distributed query optimization research. Inherent in LANs are three important considerations for distributed query optimization: greater variety of network topology; sophisticated protocols to take advantage of greater available bandwidth; and rapid transmission to all sites of system state information. Query optimization algorithms include MICROBE, UNITY, AR-GENERAL, and Wah and Lien.

Comparison of sequences for local area networks using spread-spectrum multiple access

Article Abstract:

The construction of sequence sets often used for code-division multiple access (CDMA) systems and spread-spectrum local area networks (SS-LAN) is presented, and the results are used to define ideal code properties and the selection of sets for various SS-LAN applications. The benefits of SS-LANs include: simple communication protocols, system security, a wide range of distribution alternatives, and priority mechanism and parallel message processing capability.

Programmable Switched-Capacitor Filter With No Additional Silicon Area

Article Abstract:

An economical method of programming the frequency-response parameters of the switched-capacitor double-integrator biquad is described. This method yields considerable reduction in the capacitor spread. Advantages of the method are analyzed. A circuit diagram of the biquad is included.
