A question of six appeal: the data industry is debating whether to back a transmission category to overtake category 5

Article Abstract:

The data cable industry is debating whether to support a new category of cables to overtake category 5. Category 6 will mean that installers will have to learn new connection and termination techniques, handle heavier and less flexible cable and invest in new testing equipment. However category 6 cable is said to speed up transfer of bit mapped images and it allows the use of cheaper copper electronic hardware. Some believe that there is still scope for developing category 5 cables.
