A wake-up call in water management

Article Abstract:

Water is an important aspect of sustenance, and with the increasing demand on fresh water and its depleting resources makes good water management practices a must for every living person. Water needs to be managed right from source to waste and various methods are being employed by several industries to control contamination of water bodies and recycling of waste water, which can be used for agricultural and industrial use. Efficient use of water in day-to-day activities can result in increase in productivity. Also desalination of seawater is another source of getting potable water.

Catalyst that helps destroy toxic pollutants

Article Abstract:

A new process, based on a family of catalysts, known as tetra-amido macrocyclic ligand complexes (TAML), has been developed, wherein hazardous pollutants are broken down quickly and efficiently, to make them relatively harmless. The applications of Fe-TAML are decontaminating Anthrax, breaking down pesticides, decolorizing textile mill waste water, cleanup of paper and wood pulp manufacturing processes, removing sulphur compounds from fuels, among others.
