All things being equal

Article Abstract:

A higher proportion of women are found working in planning than any other chartered body but they still experience discrimination in the workplace. Many female planners find that once they have had children and require more flexible working arrangements these are very difficult to organize as departmental managers seem to be unaware of the needs of their female employees. Although facilities such as on-site nurseries would be welcome, what is most needed is a change in attitudes within the working environment.

Clean air strategy lacks national clout

Convener of the RTPI transport panel, Keith Gardner, believes there could be coordination problems with UDPs, local plans, air quality management and transport plans.

'Battle of the benders' may seek Euro ruling

Article Abstract:

People living at the King's Hill Collective, a settlement for New Age travellers near Glastonbury, England, are determined to fight a lengthy legal battle if necessary in order to assert their right to remain on their land. They have purchased a four-acre site, where there are now 16 dwellings. Mendip District Council argues that planning permission is required, as there has been a change of use, and has given the collective a year to leave the site.
