Applying the lessons learned from 27 lean manufacturers. The relevance of relationships management

Article Abstract:

Implementation of lean production principles calls for a change in focus from oprations management to relationships management. Data obtained from 27 companies operating in international markets revealed that a shift to relationships management will most likely result to a significant improvement in final products and services brought about by integration of different organizations into the value stream. Concentration on relationships management will also result to integration of customers into the organization.

A new method for evaluating worst- and best-case (WBC) economic consequences of technological development

Article Abstract:

The economic worst- and best-case (WBC) consequences of technological investments for manufacturing companies are evaluated using interval analysis. WBC analysis takes into account uncertainties and the lack of exact cost and market information. The WBC concept is then applied to a cash-flow problem of an industrial company. It is shown that although the WBC concept has several practical applications, additional research is required.
