David Cowell, research director at the University of the West of England, believes that biosensor to detect almost any type of organism or hormone can be developed if sufficient time and funds are available. Most problems of detecting various types of organisms can be solved with low cost devices if the right technique is used and sufficient time is devoted to development.

Grand challenges push aero innovation

Christopher Clarkson, Future Air Systems technical director of BAE Systems Air Systems, revealed in his lecture the innovations developed in response to past challenges. According to him, developing of maintenance-free, unmanned air combat vehicle, without conventional control surfaces, with no performance or cost penalty is to be considered as 'A grand challenge'.

3D CAD shows a more solid future

Some product highlights, useful advice and seminar information from 2005 Solid Modelling Show at the NEC, Birmingham, are presented. One of them is a feature generator by Tempus Computers that includes drag-and-drop modelling and 3D grips for intuitive drag-based editing.
