Cashing in on the all-night session

Article Abstract:

Many observers feel very positive about moves by a number of UK cities to offer all-night attractions such as cafes and street stalls. Such ventures can offer new employment, and can also make urban streets safer, as there are more people around. However, some people feel that all-night opening for pubs, for example, simply gives people more opportunity to drink heavily, which can have negative consequences. The UK government is soon to publish a consultation paper on extending licensing hours on Fridays and Saturdays.

Article Abstract:

The white paper is only seen as a step in the right direction and its ambitious targets for waste reduction, recycling and composting are raising doubts. The Energy from Waste Authority is pleased with the targets but Jane Manning-Shaw of the Environmental Services Association believes that the industry requires research and planning permission details.
