Corn-based polymers to debut

Article Abstract:

Cargill Dow Polymers LLC (CDP), a Minnetonka, MN-based joint venture of Minnetonka-based Cargill Inc and Midland, MI-based The Dow Chemical Co, is offering a new family of polymers called NatureWorks for use in fibers and plastic packaging. The process used in the corn-based polymers involves the formation of polylactide from harvested carbon taken from air during photosynthesis. CDP plans to use other renewable crops such as agricultural wastes, sugar beets, rice and wheat as feedstock.

Filters improve performance of compressed air systems

Article Abstract:

Kaeser Compressors Inc introduces a variety of filters that provide consistent air quality while minimizing operating costs. These filters are designed with housings that have larger flow areas to ensure low pressure drop and to provide easy installation, operation and maintenance. They use a matrix blended fiber that provides a very consistent pore size within the media. thereby improving performance of compressed air systems.
