Engineering firm accounts for twice the business

Article Abstract:

Garver and Garver Consulting Engineers of Little Rock, AR, is using a new computerized accounting package which allows them to double the volume of their generated invoices without adding new staff. The company uses the Sema4 system from Sema4 Inc., especially designed for architects and engineers, which automatically calculates withholding totals and processes staff payroll in just a few hours. Sema4 provides the flexibility needed to customize invoices and allows the company to tailor reports according to their directors' needs.

Life-cycle considerations in urban infrastructure engineering

Article Abstract:

A series of evaluations from various sources regarding a study on the life-cycle considerations for decisions on urban infrastructure improvement are presented. The study was commended for its analysis of the needfor rehabilitating urban infrastructure, while taking into account the long range solutions to these problems through life cycle cost analysis. Various suggestions and opinions related to the study are also presented.

Article Abstract:

Several companies have the mistaken notion that the reengineering concept mainly involves the adoption of new technology. Their reengineering initiatives are technology-driven rather than business-driven. On the contrary, reengineering should have well-defined business benefits and objectives complementing the corporate strategy. Companies should learn to choose technologies that can help achieve business goals.
