Digital Processing and Storage Helps Picture

Article Abstract:

Researchers at Philips Laboratories have demonstrated a digital-processing technique to obtain better television- picture quality from conventional United States television pictures. The scheme uses an interpolation technique that fills in missing lines in a field of 525 lines at a rate of sixty times per second. A diagram illustrates how the method results in an improved picture with no line structure or flicker.

Neural engineering's image problem

Article Abstract:

Neuro engineering is a top success with implant prostheses like cochlear implant for the deaf, freehand implanted for quadriplegics, diaphragm pacing system, spinal cord stimulators, but very few people are aware of it and are not taking advantage of the technology. People with the disorders could lead more productive, comfortable and active lives if the technology were put to proper use.

Art Conservators Embrace Digital Image Processing

Article Abstract:

Using image-processing from space technology, researchers have helped the Los Angeles County Museum of Art to restore a painting which had been painted over. X-ray and camera images of artworks are being processed by computer to improve preservation techniques, identify forgeries, date paintings, and find hidden works. Other researchers in London and Washington use these techniques also.
