Flow charting software paints process pictures

Article Abstract:

A growing number of manufacturers are using flow charting software packages to enhance their quality improvement programs and production processes. Because of their graphic nature, flow charting software enable personnel to have a better understanding of process control and to identify flaws or redundancies in different plant procedures. By using these software packages to modify and optimize manufacturing activities, businesses can realize substantial savings and enhance productivity.

Color testing moves from lab to line

Article Abstract:

Technological advances have enabled portable spectrophotometers to become the preferred instrument for on-site color analysis. Aside from their size and low cost, portable spectrophotometers also offer high levels of accuracy and repeatability, prompting most experts to predict that they will eventually dominate color management processes. Ideal applications of these instruments include quick pass/fail color evaluation, color matching, and color data transmission.

Dismantling the quality lab

Article Abstract:

Companies are developing methods for integrating traditional quality laboratory functions with the manufacturing or production process. Quality standards have unified both areas as an attempt by most firms to contain costs associated with the separation of production and inspection. This unifying trend is projected to grow as a permanent standard of the manufacturing process.
