Experimental tests of the endowment effect

Article Abstract:

The experimental procedures developed by Kahneman, Knetsch and Thaler (KKT) for identifying an endowment effect are examined through responses that discard all reference to purchasing, selling and prices. Outcomes show the willingness-to-pay/willingness-to-accept discrepancy is not as great as previous research has shown. Results show KKT use of different instructional descriptions results in exaggeration of seller's willingness to accept. However, their endowment effect is supported by this study.
