Article Abstract:

Quality improvement programs including the total quality management (TQM) concept have been successfully implemented in some firms and failed in others. This failure has resulted from a lack of open dialogue and cooperation between those in factory and in upper management. However, much of the success in quality improvement being experienced by perhaps a growing number of firms in the late 1990s is being driven by an outside force, which is the International Organization for Standardization's (ISO) 9000 quality certification program.

Statit Express QC cranks out basic SPC charts

Article Abstract:

Statware Inc's product called Statit Express QC version 5.2 can do two basic functions most efficiently. One is providing a means for recording data. Another is providing a way to quickly create the appropriate control chart from the data. The program is so easy to use that the user would not need the help files to create charts. There are only minor drawbacks which include its ability to only modify the look of newly created charts and the restriction of text size to a minimum size.
