Article Abstract:
Several chemical processing plants, including those of Rhone-Poulenc SA, EI du Pont de Nemours and Co and Ashland Chemical Co will be shut down for periods ranging from a few hours to several days between Dec 31, 1999 and Jan 3, 2000. The move is a safety precaution against electric surges or malfunctions caused by the Y2K computer glitch that may damage equipment resulting in the coagulation and polymerization of products.
