India's reforms seen on track despite qualms over upcoming election

Article Abstract:

India is one of the destinations which should be considered as a potential site for foreign investments. It enjoys many advantages over other countries in the region, foremost of which is the ability of its labor force to speak english. The costs of highly skilled workers are considerably lower than in other Asian countries. It also has a good educational system, respectable accounting system, and a sound legal system. There are concerns over India's political stability in anticipation of the 1996 elections, but officials are confident that reforms will continue, whatever the outcome.

Company founder Allan C.Y. Wong of VTech Holdings Ltd. said that his company has adopted a combination of Asian and Western management. Wong explained that the Asian model is very horizontal and autocratic, with the boss being responsible for all the decision making. Such an approach is fast, depending on the boss' skills. The structure is lean and competitive, but growth can only be so much because there is no second management tier.
