Keys to a successful internal audit

Article Abstract:

Internal auditing is one way of controlling quality. Some of the ways to successfully conduct the audit include planning, making a checklist and being objective. Auditors should also manage the time, interview and sample as well as pose good questions and make the interviewee as comfortable as possible to elicit all the right answers. They should also jot down all the important details, including negative and positive observations, and make sure to follow-up whatever needs to be done or corrected. Professionalism should also be practiced to expect positive results.

A new name for a not-so-new concept

Article Abstract:

Total quality management (TQM) programs have been given different terminologies but they essentially follow a singular concept. TQM requires planning such that each member of an organization is aware of the common objective. There should also be unrestricted communication so that strengths can be identified and maintained while weaknesses can be improved. The six principles in the successful implementation of TQM are presented.
