Message received but not heard

Article Abstract:

Several workers of the US manufacturing industry have been laid off due to downsizing, cost-cutting or lack of business. Unfortunately, many employees still do not get the message that they should improve their productivity if they want to keep their jobs in an increasingly competitive market. This can be gleaned from a report released by Checkers Simon and Rosner, which shows that poor employee work ethics will be the major obstacle to the 2nd qtr. 1996 profits of Illinois manufacturers.

Don't let "hot work" cost you money

Article Abstract:

Manufacturing companies may be able to prevent losses resulting from injuries by observing the necessary precautions in conducting hot works, or those jobs which involve welding, grinding and hot flames. One of the most efficient ways of ensuring safety is by training employees on fire prevention and fighting. It would also help to monitor equipment routinely.
