Quadrise, a company formed by three former oil industry executives, has completed a feasibility study on using methanol as a global energy system, rather than natural gas, oil and coal. Quadrise believes that the methanol cycle is an ideal renewable energy storage system and is more practicable than hydrogen because it is liquid at room temperature and is easily made from hydrogen.
