Model behaviour

Article Abstract:

Computer modelling software developments are helping design companies to cut costs by allowing them to try out new ideas. Wilde and Partners have made available a new metal forming stimulation tool called Deform. It should help both research engineers by allowing them to analysis the performance of components before production. Trimension has sold 17 of its Silicon Graphics Reality Centres. It has also developed the ReaCTor which is able to project images on room sized environment. The system will cost about 200,000-250,000 pounds sterling added to the cost of computing power.

Fluid software models true reality: CFD software is now able to model real, chemically reacting systems in real situations in all their complexity

Article Abstract:

Computational fluid dynamics software can allow the modelling of turbulent flow, particularly when complicated chemical reactions are taking place. New software has been developed to enable engineers to model chemical vapour deposition and plasma processes in the manufacture of silicon chips. CFD can also be used for electronic cooling.
