Nanotechnology: cause for concern?

Article Abstract:

There is increasing concern over the potential health and environmental hazards posed by nanotechnology. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has developed a Nanoscale Materials Stewardship Program concept paper outlining 2 regulatory programs, and this has received mixed reactions from the industry. The Nano Risk Framework developed by DuPont and Environmental Defense is also discussed.

A smarter way to detect fugitive emissions

Article Abstract:

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is planning to release an amended regulation for simpler and cheaper ways to detect fugitive emissions in process plants. The new regulation will allow the use of optical imaging to detect leaks. The existing rules, as well as the new technologies in detecting fugitive emissions, are discussed.

Congressional initiatives support nanotechnology

Article Abstract:

The United States House and Senate have introduced legislation to encourage development and research activities for nanotechnology. Research and development of nanotechnology is considered by the White House to be all-important on the agenda for federal research.
