New Labour, new law

Article Abstract:

The election of a new Labour government in the UK heralds a range of possible changes in employment regulations. The Labour government will establish a Low Pay Commission which will set a national minimum wage rate, and the government is committed to introducing more measures to combat discrimination, including age discrimination. The new government may sign the European Union's Social Maastricht Treaty Social Chapter, which would introduce new rights for employees, including the right to unpaid leave following the arrival of a new child. Other possible reforms are described.
