New technologies and materials advance RP

Article Abstract:

The InVision si2 three dimensional printer manufactured by 3D Systems, allows users to take three dimensional label sintering into uncharted areas. The ink jet printer uses tougher material at lower cost than its thermojet predecessor and the work piece moves beneath the print head where it is cured by an ultra-violet flash in a single compartment.

Steel for a better engineering future

Article Abstract:

A formable, weldable high-tensile steel sheet that is stronger than conventional steel sheets would be made available for commercial use and is expected to be very reasonably priced. The basic principle of enhancing strength by heating steel up and cooling it down quickly, usually followed by heating it again carefully is well known.
