Non-frontier measures of efficiency, progress and regress for time series data

Article Abstract:

A study has been conducted to evaluate the performance and productivity of industrial operations using non-frontier measures of efficiency, progress and regress for time series data. A benchmark production correspondence instead of the frontier concept was used to analyze the relationship between inputs and outputs of operations. Monthly time series data on the activities of an urban transit company were analyzed and compared with the results of non-parametric frontier approaches.

Linked-cone DEA profit ratios and technical efficiency with application to Illinois coal mines

Article Abstract:

A study has been conducted to examine data envelopment analysis (DEA) profit ratios and technical efficiency of coal mines in Illinois using the Thompson-Thrall profit ratio modeling approach instead of the DEA efficiency analysis. The results revealed that DEA profit ratios do not necessarily provide DEA technical efficiency and vice versa and thus, require a separate a treatment. The mathematical principles underlying the analysis are discussed.
