Optimizing on-site power

Article Abstract:

A panel of electrical engineers discussed interconnection issues, codes, technology and roadblocks from electric utilities that they have to deal with kwhen specifying on-site power and switching systems. They cited the requirements of the local utility for interconnect-paralleling with the utility as the most important obstacle to switching to on-site power in New York, NY. A major issue that arises from generating in parallel with a utility is a large, inappropriate electric bill. Other major challenges are fuel storage and local municipal sound ordinances.
