PC100 memory packs store up to 256MB

Article Abstract:

IBM Microelectronics Division of East Fishkill, NY, has developed a new family of PC100-compliant dual in-line memory modules (DIMM) that can transfer data at bus speeds of 100MHz. The modules are offered in both registered and unbuffered designs and are suitable for both low-end and high-end applications. The registered modules are best suited to large systems and are available in 64-MB, 128MB and 256-MB. IBM's experience in stacking technology can make for four-slot systems with up to a gigabyte of main memory. The unbuffered 32-MB DIMM units are priced at $90 while the registered 256-MB units are is priced $1100, both in quantities of 1000 units.

Finding the edge of heart safety

Article Abstract:

An experiment done with pigs is used to study the effects of the Taser to the heart. It is revealed that Taser-like impulses applied close to the heart on the chest wall of pigs have critical cardiac effects. To simulate individuals that are high on stimulants, the experiment also administered cocaine to some of the pigs. It was found that these pigs needed a higher current to bring on ventricular fibrillation.
