Phone build time slashed by a third

Article Abstract:

The introduction of a new composite resin to its production line has enabled Warwickshire-based Company Malcolm Nicholls (MNL) to cut prototype build times of Panasonic's new X70 camera phone by around a third. The resin gave MNL faster reaction times, zero pre-dip delay and zero Z-axis wait periods, and is also very process tolerant so MNL was also able to increase hatch spacing and simplify support positioning, without reducing the quality of the actual prototype model.

Which calculation tool would you trust?

Article Abstract:

Engineers working for Rolls-Royce prefer to use MathCad mathematical modeling tool for engineering calculations instead of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. The reasons for this change are lack of clarity leading to hidden errors in Excel spreadsheets, ambiguous calculations and associated results and inaccurate calculations.

Production-grade injection moulded parts in days

Article Abstract:

Kwik-tool, a new tooling technology is developed that produces production-grade injection moulded components within five days, giving design engineers the opportunity to assess the design performance. The tool is of composite tool that is split into layers and CNC-machined directly from 3D CAD data.
