Plastic fantastic or metal guru

Article Abstract:

Electrical contractors seeking a cable management solution have a choice which includes aluminium or polyvinyl chloride (PVC) products. Aluminium products are rigid but lightweight and easy to instal. The metal offers protection against spiking, and its conductivity prevents accumulation of static charge and associated dust. The wide range of products available is one of the chief advantages of PVC products. Their insulating properties also eliminate the need for extra earthing, their flexibility can accommodate site imperfections, and they are easy to clean.

PVC: Friend not foe

Article Abstract:

Greenpeace, the environmental charity, has blamed the usage of Polyvinyl chloride (pvc) for causing ill-health in humans. In contrast several independent studies have found that pvc is safe to use and in some countries pvc has been listed as a preferred material. Pvc has been found to be less likely to catch fire and once on fire, toxic gases are released at a slower rate than in many other materials. Pvc can be considered to be an appropriate material for use in the construction industry despite the false accusations by Greenpeace.

Your flexible friend

Article Abstract:

Electrical contractors in the UK are under increasing pressure to meet demand for flexible power connections which allow office layouts to be altered frequently and rapidly. For this reason, electrical contractors are becoming attracted to pre-assembled wiring connection systems for new or refurbished buildings. Suppliers of such systems include Ackermann, which claims that its Ackwire system is the first UK manufactured system of its type capable of incorporating both power and lighting circuits.
