Portrait of a plan-thusiast

Article Abstract:

Jed Griffiths, the new president of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), aims to have a significant impact on environmental planning policies during his year in office. He believes that one of the main priorities is to establish better dialogues with the RTPI's membership, and also hopes to forge closer links with non-traditional environmental groups. Another task will be to encourage more young people to enter the profession.

There have been growing concerns over recent years that the island may be in danger of losing its character, and efforts are now being made in response to set up a comprehensive planning system.
