Productivity-improvement team does its job

Article Abstract:

The adoption of a productivity-improvement team proved instrumental in maintaining Fielding Manufacturing's efficiency, particularly during the company's management transition period. The project, launched primarily to evaluate Fielding's jobs-in-progress quality, is composed of high-rank supervisors, middle management group and clerical employees. The team generated a 20% increase in the firm's productivity, enhanced the morale of employees and streamlined its over-all operations. The company also created distinct groups for guaranteeing the timeliness of shipments and maintaining its ISO 9000 certification.

Are you ready for kaizen?

Article Abstract:

A quality-improvement principle called kaizen can help companies improve their manufacturing processes without at almost no cost. Also, the kaizen concept does not require laying off employees. The concept enables ergonomic improvements that not only promises time-saving, but also employee fatigue reduction. Wrapping-machine company Lantech Inc of Louisville, KY, adopted the kaizen concept and achieved ambitious process improvements.
