Quality in the age of the networked society

Article Abstract:

The impact of networking technologies on the quality of life was the main topic discussed during Forum '97, a national symposium on quality improvement. Companies have to keep up with technological innovations in streamlining their operations. During the conference, the speakers explained how network technologies were restructuring business operations. Electronic business was being emphasized as a major part of corporate strategy. The importance of incorporating quality improvement was also stressed for companies that want to succeed in the digital age.

Madison conference stresses systems thinking, chaos and complexity theories, constants in times of change

Article Abstract:

Several issues on quality control were discussed at the Madison Area Quality Improvement Network's 1998 Annual Hunter Conference held in Madison, WI. The success of ideas and concepts on quality were correlated with the direction of systems thinking and complexity theories. The importance of communication and leadership was also associated with interventions, learning history, and multidimensional interactions in a quality control environment.
